New features and performance improvements
This version of OptGen provides the user with a more powerful tool to conduct long-term Generation and Transmission expansion planning studies. It focused on computational efficiency and improvements in integration with other tools, such as SDDP and PSRCloud.
Computational efficiency
Several small improvements have been made to improve the data reading procedure, the decomposition algorithm and the optimization solver
Input data with hourly resolution
A completely new way of dealing with hourly resolution data (such as demand and renewable generation), significantly improving the data reading procedure.
Decomposition algorithm
We made several improvements to the feedback process that SDDP sends to OptGen, reducing the number of iterations required to converge and avoiding negative GAP convergence.
Updating and tuning of the Optimization Solver
In addition to updating the main optimization solver of OptGen 2 to its latest version, we have improved the default parameters so that the user can often run OptGen 2 cases even faster.
Integration with SDDP and PSRCloud
SDDP 17.3 and PSRCloud 4.0 bring features that must be integrated into OptGen
Integration with PSRCloud
OptGen is now able to automatically restart after a failed PSRCloud simulation.
Integration with SDDP
Generic variables and constraints are now being considered by OptGen 2 (the OptGen 1 solution strategy contemplate them through the SDDP feedback process)
Integration with PSRIO
The dashboard has been completely redesigned using PSRIO as a base
