SDDP 17.1

New feature: Concentrated Solar Power

The global decarbonization target to control temperature increase and other climate-related events will require the adoption of different electricity production technologies, such as Concentrated Solar Power plants (CSP), that can be deployed in areas with high direct solar irradiance.

CSP uses a field of concentrating mirrors to reflect sunlight onto a receiver that heats a fluid stored in thermally insulated tanks. This fluid generates vapor to drive a turbine to produce electricity.

Optimal stochastic dispatch

SDDP represents CSPs generation, storage and heat transfer limits in hourly time steps. Solar irradiance scenarios can be imported directly or generated via Time Series Lab (TSL).

Detailed representation with hourly resolution

All relevant CSP operation dynamics represented chronologically over hours: stochastic resource availability, heating & storage, generation, etc.

Co-optimize generation, storage, and reserve

System and/or local reserve requirements are optimized integrated to CSP's resource management.

Optimal investment analysis

OptGen evaluates investment decisions of CSP projects, considering governmental energy policies, financial & environmental constraints. More details in OptGen's folder.

Integrated scenario generation

SDDP integrates with Time Series Lab (TSL), a modeling tool that creates scenarios of energy production for Variable Renewable Energy (VRE) that can be used in energy planning activities. TSL 2.0 models the CSP's solar field through optical efficiency tables to accurately represent its power generation.

Automatic integration with global reanalysis database

Time Series Lab is connected to PSR servers where MERRA2 and ERA5 reanalysis databases are stored.

Renewable scenario generation

Generates future VRE scenarios that are serially and spatially correlated with hydro inflows.

Shared data base

SDDP and TSL use the same database, which provides seamless integration of both tools.

Advanced visualization and processing tools

SDDP produces more than 450 detailed reports, including CSP's generation, charge/discharge, storage, marginal costs, and reserve provided for each time step and scenario simulated.

Graph 4.0 & Dashboard

Create beautiful dashboards with our charting tool Graph 4.0 and share them with your team with a single click.

PSRIO: data processing tool

Take your analyses to the next level with PSRIO, a powerful processing tool that lets you merge results, customize, and automate reports via an intuitive scripting language.

Power View

Power View is a georeferenced graphical visualization that easily plots the animated evolution of circuit flows, bus marginal costs, generation, and other results on a map.
